Online colour search

Fashion Business International, Feb 2004

Using eWarna's online colour-search facility, catalogue designers can arrange for their library of colour samples to be measured by spectrophotometer and for the shades to be held in ‘virtual' form in a ‘folder' on the eWarna server.   That folder is then linked live to the search features on the web catalogue.   Anyone viewing the web page then:

  • Selects their desired colour by Lab input (Lab colour values are available in most CAD and graphics software), by choosing from a selection of palettes on screen – all the Pantone colours are shown, for example – or by entering or importing a spectrophotometric colour measurement.
  • Selects the lighting(s) under which they wish to find a match under
  • Clicks on SEARCH

The web page will return the nearest matches from the provider's palette, complete with colour slabs on screen, colour difference numbers, and any other required details.

eWarna says many trim companies are already using this feature for their web offerings – including American & Effird, Gunzetal threads, Slik Fasteners and Fildan haberdashery.
