| eWarna unveils Colour Indexer, Internet-based colour management functionalities Jaring Internet Magazine, Mar 2005 eWarna announced the release of Colour Indexer, the latest add-on module to its online colour management system LabWorks Pro. Colour Indexer which combines Internet-based colour management functionalities with industry-standard colour systems in the market, enables colour standard providers to provide large-scale, automated colour cross-referencing services to their customers. Standards companies and companies who sell products from standard shade range can increase the adoption of their standards by automating the process to ‘index, pick, swatch and go' at a fraction of the time, saving thousands of dollars of labour cost, said the company in a statement. “This new add-on also helps users to significantly reduce human errors and improve productivity when cross-referencing any colour standards.” Faizal Hussein, Director of Product Development, eWarna said, “It takes an operator at least one minute to locate a best match for a colour from a database of 4,000 colours and transcribe that result on a spreadsheet.” This translates, Faizal said,” to up to 20 working days for three fulltime personnel working round the clock on three shifts to cross reference 2,000 colours against 4,000 searchable colours under 10 different illuminants.” “Colour Indexer offers a better solution. The entire exercise can be automated and completed in a few hours, freeing staff to perform higher value tasks,” he added. eWarna Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder Richard Lawn said, “Apparel companies are beginning to rely on standards companies to create reference palettes for their design program. There is a need to easily cross reference one palette to another.” With this technology, Richard said, “apparel companies will also enjoy more flexibility when choosing or changing standards providers.” Built on eWarna's patent pending Online Colour eXchange (OCX) technology, it includes a highly optimized colourimetric searching algorithm. Users may input any colour sets as targets and search for the best match from a selected database under chosen illuminants, observers and algorithms. Search results may be displayed on screen, printed or exported to a Comma Separated Variable (CSV) file for easy import into Excel spreadsheet or other output format. The company said that users who will benefit from the use of Colour Indexer are designers, merchandisers, purchasing managers, colour managers, colour advisors, colour checkers and sales specialists of colour standards. Colour Indexer also delivers an instant colour searches and comparison under a choice of matching conditions, and customizable cross-reference tables and report formats. |
