Solutions that Address Today’s Apparel and Textile Challenges
The apparel industry has changed dramatically over the past decade, going from in-house domestic manufacturing to offshore sourcing. This change has added tremendous complexity to the apparel supply chain. Even more sourcing challenges will come from the removal of quotas in 2005. Merchandisers and retailers are challenged by a new generation of consumers that demand greater choice and fast fashion.
These factors, combined with global oversupply of many apparel products, have led to deflationary pricing of clothing. Fashion companies must present consumers with fresh new products on a continuous basis, rather than seasonally, in order to grow revenues and increase profitability. Key among the operational challenges this creates for apparel and textile companies are the need to reduce development cycle from design to shelf, improve inventory turns and reduce merchandise write-offs due to inconsistent quality.
According to a Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA) report, apparel and textile supply chain has $34 billion (USD) in waste from its current processes – 20% derived from product design and development. Color is identified as the largest factor impeding real gains in this process. Recognizing this need, we have developed flexible solutions to address the diverse needs found throughout the supply chain.
